Law Of Attraction, Revisited

So I was at work today, letting Youtube videos play in the background of my already messy workspace and started watching some of Oprah's old special on the book/DVD, The Secret. I've read this book before and heard a lot about the law of attraction, but not until today did I actually stop and reflect on how this law of the universe sincerely has played a part on the past year of my life.

So yes, our thoughts and our feelings are what we attract into our lives. The images, books, people, atmosphere that we surround ourselves are what fill our thoughts and in turn what we radiate out into the universe. So obviously if we allow ourselves to constantly think negatively, in self doubt, and unworthiness, you better be damn sure those feelings will expand.  Which moves me right along to the next topic...

What you focus on expands... ..Ah HA moment! When I heard this, though it's such a simple statement, I thought about everything I've been focusing on and finally started seeing why things unfolded as they did. I'll keep it at that!

Another thing they talked about was forgiveness... "giving up the hope that the past could be different." Light bulb moment right there. Forgiveness shouldn't be a heart-wrenching moment, it should be a moment of gratitude... Thank you for the experience... I'm a better person because of it and I don't wish the past to be any different. Talk about bringing peace to the matter. Despite still feeling hurt in my heart, when you come to terms that things are exactly they way they should be... it's fucking liberating.

You cannot expect anyone to honor you if you don't honor yourself. Especially in relationships, sometimes we forget who we are and what we should be reciprocated because we're trying to please. Never do that, you are left with nothing in the end.

Anyway, these were all words that spoke so directly to me today that I had to share. If you really stop and think about whether or not you are conscious about what you are thinking.. it really will surprise you.. especially with how (unknowingly) negative they can be.

I'm really trying to make a conscious effort now to surround myself with great, loving people, to keep moving forward with my life and fill it with positivity and progression. I cannot be expecting anything good to come my way when I'm too preoccupied with the past. Gotta let it go!

HAPPY NEW YEAR.

Currently vacationing in the Philippines and I've taken a lot of time to sit, reflect and appreciate. Thank you 2010 for reminding me (among other things):

1. I am deserving of a lot more than what I started to allowed myself to think.
2. God has a plan for everything in my life, trust in that. Nothing has happened without a reason.
3. I choose how I want to play my cards and nothing is ever too far from my reach.

With that, my daily reminders are:

1. Sacrifice more of the stuff that is becoming less important in my life to make room for growth and success.
2. Future is nothing to fret about, worry about today. Maximize today.
3. Live life on purpose. That everything I choose to do, affiliate myself with and surround myself with should be a reflection of me. Do things because they matter to me, say things because I mean it & letting everything else drop off as filler.
4. Patience and hard work.

Cheers to 2011.

Sunday Night Thoughts

  • Sunday night mass always brings me clarity & calms the madness in my mind. Sometimes my thoughts, worries, and hopes for the future get the best of me and evening mass always centers me again before the start of another week. I used to go a lot at night when I lived in LA, I think I'm going to start going in the evening here. There always happens to be less people too, which helps me cancel out the noise in my life. Does anyone else feel this way?
  • I'm learning more and more that when I'm feeling a certain way that I may not like, instead of pushing it away and acting like I don't feel that way, I'll let myself sit in that feeling and then move on. It helps me lessen the baggage and leave things that are in the past where they are supposed to be, instead of constantly suppressing something and having it occur in my life over and over again. Sometimes we're taught that we have to be superwomen and we're strong enough to handle everything. Truth is, we won't be strong enough for everything so you just let things be as they are and then tell yourself to let it go. No wallowing, no questioning, no going back in time reliving things that should be left there.
  • At the end of the day, I find peace knowing that everyday, I'm better than I've ever been. There's a reason for everything that has happened in my life. My life is better now than it was 2 years ago, a week ago, 5 years ago. When I used to feel sad about things, I always wanted to go back in time, hoping I was happy like I was at some point in the past. Now, I relish in the fact of growing, learning more about myself and accepting change instead of wanting to relive past moments. It's no way to live. What is meant to be will be & I know that God is only making me better.
  • Being a lady is completely underrated nowadays.
  • A friend told me to always pray for wisdom above everything. He was so right.

WHY does everyone think they deserve to be famous without having done anything legitimate for the world?
WHY do women think the deserve a show because they were married to an athlete?! How in the hell is that something that validates their importance? I would never want to do anything that tied me solely to the idea that I was the wife of an athlete and that is why you should deem me important.
WHY do rappers get pissy because they don't win awards? Rap/hip hop wasn't even a category for so long, they're lucky even to be recognized.
WHY do rappers think they deserve accolades when they suck!? lol, foreal.
WHY do grown women still want to get into fights with other grown women on TV?
WHY does everyone think they're classy, when they. are. not?!
WHY does Kanye feel the need to constantly take to his twitter about his emotions? I miss when there was a mystery about being a celebrity. A certain wonder and curiosity about who they were that would only be satisfied through their art and music. Some people should just drop music and let that speak. Connect with the fans but not everything has to be said all the time.
WHY do women perform in high waisted undies nowadays?!

but most of ALL. WHY do famous people always complain about the HATERS when most of it are things they've done upon themselves?! Stay away from the drugs, hoes, violence, and alcohol and you wouldn't have so many haters. Famous people always complain that they want to be normal and treated like everyone else, but if they don't know how to treat FANS well, walk around with theee biggest entourage and ALWAYS speak so highly of themselves... then you asking NOT to be treated normally.

These are not all meant to be taken seriously, just my random thoughts as I go through gossip blogs. It's a guilty pleasure but the foolishness is just at an all time high lately.
