I feel like sharing...

I was going to make this shirt for Chi Delta Theta, UCLA.
Never happened but I love it.
Brings good memories of triumph (:

An Ode to Lauryn.

Something I made when I was feelin' creative.
I love a blank slate just to see what I can come up with....
Love me some Lauryn Hill.

EL MAC x RETNA Book

Alianza is a book I picked up at Upper Playground in Seattle featuring the works of Retna & El Mac. Two artists that I appreciate so much for their respectful and beautiful portrayals of women & their down right talent and originality. You can't help but marvel and be in awe at their works, and even people who I've introduced to these artists, that haven't been exposed to graffiti, fall in love at the sight of their works. I've been blessed to see their large scale murals around Los Angeles & they truly are masterpieces. Cop it if you see it, the book is a sweet glimpse at their many works.

One of my absolute favorite things is surrendering to MUSIC when I'm having a crazy day. Being in the library, surrounded with people with noses buried in books, completely in silence, all internally freaking out over midterms... only to have the beautiful sounds of Jun Seba playing beautifully in my ears... is truly the best. Or walking to class, with people hustling all around me to get to there next destination and the perfect song comes on to provide a soundtrack for an already beautiful day. Or being in my room, after a long day and just putting my headphones on, leaving work at work and letting the beat ride every emotion inside of me. Even if I can't sing or play an instrument, the appreciation for beautifully crafted beats and melodies never ceases to amaze and uplift me.

It makes me want to explore my creative side again. It's been sitting dormant with too many things I "need" to be doing... but there are so many things I want to learn and develop my skills for. I'm gonna do it. Immersion is the first step.

El Mac, Retna & Kofie: JUSTICE Mural for Manifest Equality- Time lapse: from Augustine Kofie on Vimeo.

Ever since moving to LA, El Mac & Retna, have been my favorite graffiti artists, ever.
I cannot explain how amazing their work is, separately or together, but know that you will never forget it.
Every time I see something new, I can't peel my eyes off of the sheer beauty of their work.
Share it, enjoy it, appreciate it.

Dirt-Poster

Designed by Roland Reiner Tiangco, Dirt Poster requires your participation to complete it. The back side of each poster is covered with a layer of ink, which you need to “paint” onto the front side the poster, to reveal the message that has been spot-varnished onto the paper. Awesome! The poster is limited edition and can be bought for $80. (swissmiss.com)

smart design. love it.
