STRONG WOMEN.

Saw Rudy do this in person at Da Poetry Lounge...
When God gives you a talent, use it, share it & empower with it!
So glad he does just that.

open yourself up to the light.

It's those days when you chance upon amazing minds and passionate people like I did today at LMU's Third Tuesday series watching Beau Sia. Those moments where clarity and understanding smack you right in the fucking face. Those moments where you can sit and literally feel yourself changing because someone has just enlightened you. Those are the good days.
  1. Too often we worry about illusions we have in our mind that we think exist in our future... that we cut ourselves short of the potential we have as people today. So fuckin' true. He talked about being PRESENT in everything that you do. Because so much time passes when we keep trying to prepare for the future and things that haven't happened yet that today has already passed and we can never get it back. Ever.
  2. Fuck boundaries and any kind of shit that society wants to make of you. If we can all stop letting Facebook, Twitter and whatever other social networking site from continually boosting our egos thinking we were important, people would actually be doing something worthy. FAME.. does not equate with being IMPORTANT. Before we feed into what people expect of us, can't we all just focus on our craft, without the hype, notoriety, and hopes of fame to bring quality, truthful, work into the world?
  3. Everyone is ignorant. True. Ignorant to something. But if we accept that and open ourselves up to the people that we chance upon in our lives and actively try to understand their lives or what the world has to teach us.. we are enhancing our potential for LIFE. Our boundaries. Our expectations OUT OF life. . When we stop our "grind", gotta do me and handle lifestyles and think before we speak, think before we act, become a little more compassionate with people or even offer people the chance to understand, we're opening up all these amazing avenues in our worlds that didn't exist because we were ignorant to it. So CHOOSE not to be.
I just had to write those thoughts down for me never to forget.
transcend. no matter what.

DA POETRY LOUNGE

Today was a good day.

Class, gym, meeting new friends and then Da Poetry Lounge on Fairfax for the 11 year anniversary. I haven't been in a minute but I'm so thankful that something urged me to go tonight. Definitely going to make it a weekly thang again. I'm so thankful for Mic for bringing this venue, atmosphere and art into my life 2 years ago (i think?). The energy, the good vibes, the truth... I feed off of it. & my favorite Shihan was in attendance along with an AMAZING poet I fell in love with. Andrea Gibson is the DAMN TRUTH. No poet has EVER hit me like her words did tonight. Watch the videos, stop reading what I write for all I care, but let her words bring truth into your world!

Other than that, while sitting there in a room full of amazingly creative and talented people who bare their souls for people to judge every Tuesday, I felt inspired by their courage. I read this quote somewhere about... Once you've lost everything, you're free to do ANYTHING. And I do. I FEEL FREE & HAPPY. As much as I feel like I'm starting all over, I am redefining who I am and doing everything and anything that makes me uneasy and scared. If you share yourself and let people see the potential in you, you never know what others can offer you and vice versa. We're all striving for something. I realize that more and more nowadays. Do what excites and entices you even if it scares the shit out of you. Just. Do. It.

In the near future I'm hoping to hook up with a photographer I met at the Lounge who offered to shoot me. It's a win win for the both of us. Can't wait! Crazy how the universe aligns itself. He's incredibly incredibly talented & big on realizing your potential.. I can digg that. More on this later.

i'll sleep happy tonight..
